Privacy Notice

PracticeAhead is built so that what you write and record stays on your device. This notice sets out what that means in practice, and where the exceptions are.

Voice services

The voice you choose may be handled on your device or by a third-party voice service. If a voice service works remotely, the text being read may be sent to that provider under its own terms. If that matters for what you are practising, choose an on-device voice or do not use the voice feature for that passage.

Service providers

We may use service providers to deliver and protect PracticeAhead. They may process limited service information in other countries under their own privacy and security commitments. This does not include the practice text or recordings kept on your device.

What you can do

Because the data is on your device, you control it directly. You can export your talk as an image, text, or a zip from the mind map. Reset deletes your text, mind map, progress, and every recording in this browser, and it cannot be undone. Clearing site data in your browser settings removes the same things.

We cannot inspect or delete data that exists only in your browser; use Reset or your browser’s site-data controls for that data.

If you say no

Declining the microphone means recording and replay do not work; the rest of PracticeAhead, including writing, listening, and cue removal, works as normal. The browser asks for the microphone only when you press record, and permission is managed by the browser, not by us.

What we cannot promise

Storing data in a browser has limits we do not control. A browser can evict data when storage is low, private or incognito windows may keep nothing after they close, and clearing site data removes everything. Recordings are not backed up anywhere. If a rehearsal matters, export it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that a device, browser, or network is free of compromise.

How to contact us

Questions about this notice, or about what happens to what you write and record, go to hello@practiceahead.com.

If you think you have found a security problem, write to the same address and say so in the subject line. Tell us what you did and what you saw, and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before telling anyone else.

Changes to this notice

The version and effective date are at the top. If a change affects what is processed or where it goes, we will raise the version and say what changed before the change takes effect.

Version 1.1 added a way to reach us with a question about this notice or to report a security problem. Nothing about what is processed, where it is kept, or how long it stays changed.
